Extrusion method for pipe elbow manufacturing process

There are four well known pipe elbow manufacturing process.They are Mandrel method, Extrusion Method, UO Method and Hot Forming Method.

Let’s start with Mandrel method today.

One of the most common elbow manufacturing processes for manufacturing elbows from the pipe is mandrel method which is kind of hot forming methods.

In this method, a pipe is cut in pieces and push with the help of hydraulic ram. Induction heating coil heat the pipe and, it is pushed over a die called “mandrel” which allows the pipe to expand and bend simultaneously.

This method can be used to manufacture a wide range of the diameter of elbows. In first step pipe is cut into the desired length. This cut pipe is then set on the mandrel to die. In next step with the help of hydraulic rem pipe is push on the die and at the same time induction coil heat the pipe pieces resulting in the elbow. In next stage, the elbow is sent for heat treatment and machining before its offer for visual and dimension inspection.
