How to judge the performance of insulated joints?
Insulated joint is an essential pressure element in the cathodic protection system of steel pipeline, which is widely used in the cathodic protection system of steel pipeline, how to judge the performance of insulated joints it’s very important.
We usually use the potentiometric method to measure the potential at both ends of the insulated joint by using a digital multimeter to judge the insulation performance.
- Before the protected pipe is electrified, use the digital multimeter V to test the pipe ground potential Va1 of the unprotected side (a) of the insulated joint,
- Adjust the cathodic protection power supply so that the pipe ground potential Vb at point b on the protection side reaches -0.85-1.50V, and then test the tube ground potential Va2 at point a,
- If va1 and va2 are basically equal, it is considered that the insulation performance of the insulated joint is good, if va2 > va1, and va2 is close to the Vb value, it is considered that the insulation performance of the insulated joint is suspicious; if the auxiliary cathode is far enough from the insulated joint, and it is judged that the pipeline connected with the unprotected side is not close to or cross with the pipeline on the protected side, it can be judged that the insulation performance of the insulated joint is very poor.
It is especially important to choose qualified suppliers and select products with good quality. If unqualified insulation joints are purchased, the performance is poor, which not only has potential safety hazards, but also increases immeasurable losses to the later maintenance of the project. As a professional supplier, Hebei Haihao Group has the ability, qualification and confidence to provide high quality products.
