Do ASTM A105 flanges need to be tested for low temperature impact?

Recently, a batch of 2″- 28″ flanges, material is ASTM A105, standard according to ASME B16.5/ ASME B16.47. Those flanges are about to be shipped to Mexico. The customer wants to do a low temperature impact test before delivery.

As we all know that the low temperature impact test refers to the degree of endurance under the continuous environment of extremely high temperature and extremely low temperature in an instant, so as to detect the chemical change or physical damage caused by the expansion and contraction of the sample in the shortest time. Through this test, we can detect whether the flange can be used in the pipe connection at low temperature.

Generally, for A350 LF2 material flange, we will conduct low-temperature impact test according to the customer’s requirements, but for A105 flange, there is no relevant data for reference, so we suggest that the customer can avoid low-temperature impact test, and the mechanical property test is more in line with his requirements.
