Recently,a customer contacted me and expressed his satisfaction with the products he had ordered several months ago,which are pipe fittings with anti-corrosion coating.He said these products can endure extreme weather conditions in his country.These is no doubt that anti-corrosion coating can greatly extend the function and service life of pipe fittings.So what should be done for daily maintenance of steel pipes and fittings?

So,here we have summarized several maintenance methods for steel pipes and fittings:

First,cleaning of steel pipes.Solvents and emulsifiers are used to clean steel surface in order to remove oil,grease,dust,lubricants and similar organic substances.However,they can not remove rust,oxide scale and welding flux on steel surface,so they are only used as auxiliary means in anti-corrosion production.

Second,usage of rust cleaning tools.Steel brushes and other tools are often used to grind the steel surface,which can remove loose or tilted oxide scale,rust,welding slag and so on.Manual rust cleaning tools can achieve Sa2 level and power tools can reach Sa level of rust removal.If the steel surface is adhered to a solid oxide scale,the effect of rust cleaning tool is not ideal,then the depth of anchor lines required for anti-corrosion construction can not be reached.

Third,acid pickling of steel pipes.In general,chemical and electrolytic methods are used for pickling treatment.Pipeline anti-corrosion only uses chemical pickling,which can remove oxide scales,rust and old coatings.Sometimes it can be used as reprocessing after derusting by sandblast. Chemical cleaning can reach the surface requirement of clean and rough degree,but its anchor lines are shallow and may cause environmental pollution.

To summarize,the good maintenance will be good for steel pipes & fittings,so it cannot be ignored.
